A quick search resulted in a quick fix. I just wanted to mention the proper links here.
This worked for me: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1288865 I did not need the live CD because, as I mentioned before, I had an Internet connection, so the simple
sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-sourceworked fine. I had to reboot so the OS would recognize the driver, that's all.
This is the link that pointed me to the right place: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?s=a05152755f4e14a5810be6ae64a18648&t=1184339&page=1 It also reminds how to see which driver is missing (
lshw -C networketc).
Just wanted to share in case more people have trouble.
